William T. Maiers

William T. Maiers, age 93, of Willow Street, Johnsonburg, died Monday, January 30, 2023 at Elk Haven Nursing Home of St. Marys.  A son of the late Ernest X. and Louise (Schiemer) Maiers, he was born on February 19, 1929 in Johnsonburg, PA.  On July 4, 1953 he married Mary Ann (McCandless), who predeceased him on October 14, 2012.

Besides his parents and his wife, Bill was preceded in death by: a daughter, Patricia in infancy; and three sisters, Dorothy Divany, Helen Davies and Mae Pretak.

Bill is survived by: a son, William E. (Ann) Maiers of Johnsonburg; two grandchildren, Julie Bickford and Jessica (Chris) Ezop; four great-grandchildren, Zaviera and Zekiel Bickford and Landon and Aiden Ezop; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill retired from Stackpole Carbon in 1991.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking.  He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Rolfe Beagle Club.  He served in the United States Army with the 424^th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at the Funeral Home with Father David Wilson.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg/Ridgway Servicemen’s Detail.  Service Members are asked to assemble at the Funeral Home, 9:45 a.m., Thursday.
