Obituary

Virginia May Mertz, age 77, of West Oilwell Street, St. Marys, died March 23, 2023 at Penn Highlands-DuBois.  A daughter of the late Dewey and Hazel (Woodring) VanVoorhis, she was born on October 4, 1945 in Benezette, PA.

Virginia is survived by: her son, Dean E. Frick of St. Marys; and a sister, Judy Ali of Alexandria, VA.

Besides her parents, Virginia was predeceased by:  three brothers, Rodney, Dan and Tom VanVoorhis.

Virginia retired from Sylvania after many years and enjoyed sitting on her porch watching the birds.  She lived part of her life in Bennetts Valley and the past fifty years in St. Marys.

There will be no public visitation.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield.

Funeral Services will be held, 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home with Reverend Missy Smith.

Interment will take place in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery of Benezette, PA.
