Shirley L. (DuPont) Biel

Shirley L. Biel, age 85, of Wilcox, died July 25, 2022 at Penn Highlands-DuBois, after a brief illness.  A daughter of the late Peter and Gertrude (Bradshaw) DuPont, she was born on August 17, 1936 in St. Vincent, British West Indies.  On May 22, 1962 she married Peter “Tom” Biel in Lady of Rosary Church of Clinton, MA.

Shirley is survived by: her husband of 60 years in Wilcox; two children, Thomas J. Biel and Barbara (Paul) Asti, both of Johnsonburg; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Marie Biel of Johnsonburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by: a daughter, Diane Myers and six sisters.

Shirley was raised in British West Indies, lived some years in Massachusetts, becoming a US Citizen in 1962, and lived the past fifty years in Wilcox. She enjoyed baking, cooking, having picnics with friends and family, and family gatherings. She had a green thumb as seen from her growing plants from seed, her large garden and multiple flower gardens. She also enjoyed reading, walking, boating and elaborate decorating of her home – inside and outside – for all holidays.

There will be no public visitation.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the Funeral Home with Father David Wilson.

Interment will take place in Parklawn Memorial Gardens of Ridgway.
