Rufus "Boots" Gricks

Rufus “Boots” Gricks, 67, of Penfield, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was born January 25, 1955 in DuBois, the son of the late Harry & Helen (Dutton) Gricks. He married Janice (Slagle) Gricks on February 14, 1976, she survives in Penfield.

Boots was a graduate of Portage High School. He previously worked as a coal miner for Stoker’s Mine in Penfield. He loved the outdoors and was a member of the Sabula United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Boots also leaves behind two children: Tanya Gricks of DuBois and Nathan (Jessica) Gricks of Penfield, two grandchildren Shiann Durnell and Shay Gricks, four great-grandchildren: T.J. Burr, Mason Burr, Finley Burr and Saxton Durnell all of DuBois, three brothers: William, Thomas, and Calvin Gricks and six sisters: Rebecca Fuller, Eliza Wholavr, Birdie Bowles, Ruth Block, Rhoda Berdnt, and G. Connie Dicke.

Boots was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: John and Harry Gricks.

There will be no public visitation.
