Robert Philp, age 88, of Weedville, PA, passed away January 15, 2023 after a brief illness. Known to his friends as ‘Scotty’, he was born in 1934 in Cardenden Fife Scotland, and came to the United States in his early 20’s after serving in the Scottish Military Black Watch.
Scotty married Betty Rae Reider in June 1960 and together they had 5 children.
An avid woodworker, he was a master craftsman and cabinet maker. After a long career as a machinist with Stackpole and Arkles, which took him and the family to North Carolina, he retired back to Pennsylvania in 1996 and returned to his passion as a woodworker by volunteering with Elkwood Arts at Dickenson Center.
In addition to his extended family, he loved woodworking, all things cars and NASCAR Racing, science fiction, and was a sharpshooter marksman. His favorite part of living in Weedville was elk watching and never ceased to be excited seeing the elk wander through his yard.
Scotty was preceded in death by his wife Betty Rae, grandson Ronnie Scott Brouse, and grandson Will Charles Brouse. He is survived by his 5 children, Lisa (Ronald) Brouse, Holly Rouse, Mark Philp, Stacey (Samuel) Dawkins, and Heather (Brian) Jones; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a sister, Margaret Hill of Scotland.
At Scotty’s request, there will be no visitation and private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Penn Highlands Dubois Cardio Vascular Unit.
Online condolences will be accepted at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home website (www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com)
