Robert Birt Obituary

Robert B. Birt, 75, of Wilcox, P.A. passed away on Wednesday October 19, 2022, at his residence, due to Undifferentiated Pleomorphic High Grade Sarcoma Cancer.

He was born in Jamestown, N.Y. on November 4th, 1946, a son of the late Billy and Vivian (Burch) Birt.

Bob attended school at Frewsburg High School (class of 1965) and graduated from Jamestown Community College. He continued his lifelong pursuit of knowledge and skills. He started his career as a mold maker at Carborundum and then moved on to Cummins Engine, where he worked as a skills trainer, electrician, for 24 years. Bob created the Board Repair Department, at the Lakewood Plant, performing in-house, repairs to critical equipment.

He married Sylvia Carnahan on November 28, 1980. They renewed their vows on June 22, 2022, after 42 years of marriage. They were soulmates.

He enjoyed repairing and upgrading CB radios for fellow enthusiasts, who knew him as Frewsburg Sparky. He enjoyed racing motorcycles through the 70s (earning the nickname Bonsai Birt). He enjoyed, Sci-fi, traveling, ham radios, hunting, camping, playing the guitar, and an enduring hobby of computer hardware and gaming from the 70s on. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He studied karate and was a Mason. He had a keen interest in many different subjects, loved to drink coffee and make homemade wine, and he had a very infectious and hearty laugh, which came often as he cracked smart jokes and enjoyed his life to the fullest.

Bob is survived by his wife Sylvia and children Steven (Kathy), Travis (Emily), and Michael (Tiffany), siblings Roxanne (Gary) Koningisor, Billy Birt, Wendy (Ken) Olson, as well as 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nephews & nieces, all of who loved him and will miss him.

A life celebration will be held at a later date.
