Norman "Jerry" Nelson

August 6, 1935 ~ January 15, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old


Norman "Jerry" Nelson, age 87, of Water Street, Johnsonburg, PA, died January 15, 2023 at Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.  A son of the late Arthur and Arlene (Bullers) Nelson, he was born on August 6, 1935 in Ridgway, PA.  On December 20, 1958 he married Marlene (Miller), who survives in Johnsonburg.

Along with his wife, Jerry is survived by: three children, David (Laureen) Nelson of Cherryville, PA, Bart (Nancy) Nelson of Johnsonburg and Kyle Nelson of Johnsonburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Anderson of Kane and Doris (Charles) Hybl of Keysville, VA; and a sister-in-law, Lois Nelson of Spring Grove, PA.

Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by: a brother, Donald Nelson and a brother-in-law, Ronald Anderson.

Jerry graduated from Wilcox High School and the DuBois Business College.  He served in the US Army Co A, 38th Recon Bn from 1954-‘57 and continued in the Army Reserves. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Johnsonburg, the Wilcox Masonic Lodge, the Coudersport Consistory and the Johnsonburg Rotary.  He worked as a Bank Manager for Johnsonburg Banks for many years, retiring in 1999.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and sharing remembrances of his time playing 2nd base for the Wilcox Tanners.

There will be no public visitation.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
