Obituary for Melvin Duane Taylor

March 4, 1943 – October 10, 2025

Melvin Duane Taylor, 82, of Dill Hill in Johnsonburg, passed away peacefully in a nursing home on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:50 AM.

Born on March 4, 1943, to Lloyd Taylor Sr. and Hilda (Dallenbach) Taylor, Melvin spent most of his life on his family’s beloved homestead farm on Dill Hill. A man of quiet strength and steady devotion, he took great pride in the land that raised him and the family he built upon it.

On September 14, 1968, Melvin married the love of his life, Ellen (Geyer) Taylor. Together they made their home in Ridgway for several years before returning to Dill Hill, where they raised their four children and multiple grandchildren.

Melvin dedicated over two decades to Marhofer Baking Company and later worked for Howe’s Leather before retiring. In his later years, he found joy in the simple rhythms of country life—caring for his home, tending to his land, and being present for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen; his son, Jared; his parents, Lloyd Sr. and Hilda Taylor; his brothers, Gerald and Lloyd Jr.; and one nephew.

Melvin is survived by his children Jeffrey Taylor, Jason Taylor, and Jennifer (Brandon) Trygar; five granddaughters, Destini, Colleen, Valerie, Kylie, and Evelyn; ten great-grandchildren; six nephews; and one niece. His love and quiet wisdom will live on in each of them.

Melvin will be remembered as a hardworking, kind, and steadfast man with a great sense of humor whose life revolved around family, faith, and the home he cherished on Dill Hill. His presence will be deeply missed but forever felt in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg, PA with Reverend Don Smith.

Interment will take place in the Wardvale Methodist Cemetery.

The Family suggests memorials to Elk County 4-H and will be accepting online condolences at the Ubel Funeral Home website (www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com).
