Joyce A. Goodreau

Joyce A. Goodreau, age 81, of St. Marys, died Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Lutheran Home in Kane, PA.  A daughter of the late George and Avis (Peckman) Goodreau, she was born on April 27, 1943 in St. Mary’s, PA. 

Joyce is survived by: two children, Victoria (Dennis Fields) Hanes of Oil City, PA and Michelle (Kevin) Gilmore of Kane, PA; four grandchildren, Alisha Bedford, Kyle Gilmore, Dylan Gilmore and Tiffany Valdez; a great-grandson, Jarred Reider; a brother, Steve (Joanne) Goodreau; a sister, Gerly Witherson; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by: three sisters, Carol Dornish, Rita Blackburn and Lois Brunner; a brother, John Goodreau; and a brother-in-law, William Witherson.

Joyce was born and raised in St. Mary’s, lived forty two years in Johnsonburg and returned to St. Mary’s in 2013.  She worked as a bartender at the Rolfe Sportsmen’s Club from 1971 – 1983 and also at the Johnsonburg Paper Mill from 1983 until her retirement in 2005.  She was a member of the Central Hose Company and the St. Mary’s Moose Club, Elk Club and American Legion.  She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing puzzles; and especially singing “You never call me by my name” and “Sweet Rosie O’Grady”.
There will be no public visitation.

A time of Remembrance will be held at the Central Hose Company of Johnsonburg, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024.
