Joseph Uberti, Sr. Obituary

Joseph E. Uberti, Sr., age 90, of Spruce Street, Force, PA, died March 12, 2026 at Christ the King Manor, a week shy of his 91st birthday.  A son of the late John C. and Stella (Porta) Uberti, he was born on March 18, 1935 in Force, PA.  He married Sylvia Jean Heigel on November 9, 1957 and had seven children.  She preceded him in death in 1978.  On August 1, 1980 he married Carolyn R. (Shields), who survives at home.

Along with his wife Carolyn of 45 years, Joe is survived by: seven children, Joseph (Mary) Uberti, Jr. of Weedville, Scott Uberti of Penfield, Lainee (Laura Chiappetta) Uberti of California, James (Tina) Uberti of Wisconsin, Steven (Janet) Uberti of Bellefonte, Curtis (Molly) Uberti of Force and Nicole (Eddie) Cahill of New York; three step-children, Linda (Larry) Bara, James and Thomas Gerber; eleven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a stepson, John Gerber; two step-grandchildren, Desiree and Robert; five brothers, Bruno, Angelo, Ambrose, John and Emilio; and three sisters, Pearl Gardner, Irene Heser and Edith Uberti; leaving him as the last surviving member of his immediate family and the last of a generation of first-born Americans.

Joe served in the US Army as a Non-Commissioned Officer (E-4), stationed in Europe in the 1950’s.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator in his younger years and spent most of his life as a Union Carpenter, helping build some local buildings and institutions.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and lived his entire life on the same street in Force, PA.  He enjoyed helping friends and family with construction projects, hunting, fishing, spending time at the casino and watching NASCAR racing.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, PA with Father Mark Mastrian.

Interment will take place in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
