Jane L. (Steudler) Smith

Jane L. Smith, age 92, of Willow Street, Johnsonburg, PA, died December 31, 2024 at Elk Haven Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.  A daughter of the late William and Mabel (Anderson) Steudler, she was born on December 7, 1932 in Johnsonburg, PA.  On January 7, 1952 she married Hollaus “Hollie” Smith, who predeceased her on April 30, 2012.

Jane was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by: six brothers, John, Bernard, Charles, Robert, Richard and William Steudler; and three sisters, Alice Foster, Betty Jones and Jackie Lyle.

Jane is survived by: four children, Holly (Michael) Carnovale of St. Marys, William (Jody) Smith of Johnsonburg, Richard Smith of Johnsonburg and Larry Smith of St. Marys’ eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Steudler.

Jane was a member of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church, Central Social Hall and the Kane Country Club for many years. She enjoyed ceramics, knitting, bowling, swimming at the Community Building and delivering Meals-On-Wheels. She lived all her life in Johnsonburg and will be remembered for her generous donations to numerous charities.

There will be no public visitation.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, January 11, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., at the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be held, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the Church with Reverend Matt Williams.

Interment will take place, next to her husband, in the Wardvale Methodist Cemetery of Johnsonburg.
