Fredrick W. Fletcher

1939 - 2021


Fredrick W. Fletcher, CTRC, US Navy Retired, age 82, of Doctor’s Lane, Penfield, died April 18, 2021 at Penn Highlands-DuBois after a lengthy illness.  A son of the late William and Phoebe (Barrett) Fletcher, he was born on March 6, 1939 in Weedville, PA.  In 1960 he married Mary Lou (Fava), who survives in Penfield.

Along with his wife, Fred is survived by: two sons, Richard and William Fletcher both of Penfield; two sisters, Judy (Vincent) Sweed and Lola Royer, both of DuBois; a sister-in-law, Susan Fava of Ridgway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by: two brothers, Joseph Fletcher and David Fletcher.

Fred joined the Navy in 1956 serving his Basic Training in Bainbridge, MD and was then selected for CT School at Imperial Beach, CA.  Tours include: Adak, Alaska; Kami Seya, Japan; Cheltenham, Maryland; DET 28 Karamursel, Turkey; Edzell, Scotland; Northwest, VA; Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska; and Agana, Guam.  He served as a Communications Technician in the Navy for twenty years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer (CTRC). After his Navy retirement in 1975, he worked with UPS for twenty two years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and photography.

There will be no public visitation.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
