Ethel Kanski Obituary

Ethel M. Kanski, age 88, of Second Avenue, Johnsonburg, PA, died Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Hollidaysburg, after a short illness. A daughter of the late Adolph and Luise (Granitza) Shippling, she was born on October 24, 1933 in Johnsonburg, PA. In 1950 she married Bernard “Boot” Kanski, who survives in Johnsonburg.

Along with her husband, Ethel is survived by: two children, Bernard (Julie) Kanski of Warren, PA and Larry (Cindy) Kanski of Hollidaysburg, PA; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, Ethel was predeceased by: her parents; five brothers, Heiny, Otto, Richard, Alfred and Myles Shippling; and a sister, Edith Freeburg.

Living all her life in Johnsonburg, Ethel was a member and very active in the St. John Lutheran Church. She frequently donated blood, and mostly enjoyed spending her time with her family or church functions.

Private visitation and services will be held by the family.

Interment will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery of Johnsonburg.
