Elizabeth "Betsy" J. (Slayton) Kelly

Elizabeth J. “Betsy” Kelly, age 85, of St. Marys and formerly of Willow Street, Johnsonburg, died October 27, 2022 at Pinecrest Manor.  A daughter of the late Ensign T. and Vivian (Rainsford) Slayton, she was born on April 10, 1937 in Rochester, NY.  She was married to Richard Kelly, who predeceased her in 1985.

Betsy is survived by: four children, Gerard Fredette of Weedsport, NY, Sheila Maples of Bedford, TX, John Fredette of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Robert Fredette of Stillwater, OK;  and a sister, Patricia Governor of Delaware.

Besides her parents and her husband, Betsy was predeceased by: two brothers, Bernie & Walter Slayton; a son, Michael Fredette; a sister, Kathleen Slayton; a grandson, Brett Maples; and a dear friend, Anthony Pirman.

Betsy received a Nursing Degree and worked as Secretary at Dr. Wu’s Office for twenty years.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Johnsonburg Senior Center.  Born and raised in Rochester, Betsy came to Johnsonburg in 1969 and has been in St. Marys the past five years.

There will be no public visitation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Johnsonburg with Father David Wilson.
