Carolyn M. (Painter) Munn, age 88, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the DuBois Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Brockway, Pennsylvania, on October 20, 1937, she was the daughter of Earl and Ellen Painter. Carolyn was the youngest of 9 children.
Carolyn lived a full and meaningful life on the Munn family farm alongside her husband, James. Following his passing, she remained on the farm, which held a special place in her heart. She spent her days tending meticulously to her yard and her large garden. She had a deep love for the outdoors and was often found hunting on her property or fishing in the creek that bordered the farm. Carolyn was a very active member in her local Methodist Church. She was an avid lover of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and she was known for her quick wit and playful spirit. To those who knew and loved her, she was affectionately called "Cack," and she was always willing to help family, friends, and neighbors whenever a hand was needed.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joanne Munn, and her extended family members. Carolyn was a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews, who adored her. She was also well loved by her many devoted friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, James; her brothers, Robert, James, Melvin, Kenneth, and John; and her sisters, Jean Benson, Gertrude Mangus, and Barbara Geer.
In lieu of immediate services, the family will host a memorial in New York at a later date. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff members at the DuBois Continuum of Care for the wonderful care they provided to Carolyn. The family suggests memorials in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepting online condolences at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home website(www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com).
