Belva (Beck) Burch

Belva M. Burch, age 102, of Byrnedale, PA and recently of Oswego, NY, died Thursday, June 8, 2023 at her home in New York.  A daughter of the late Russell and Martha (Timblin) Beck, she was born on April 13, 1921 in Byrnedale, PA.  In 1941 she married Lewis Burch, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Belva was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Besides her husband and her parents, Belva was predeceased by: two infant children; four brothers, Miles, Ken, Lester and Ken Beck; and seven sisters, Dorothy Reay, Ruth Beck, Alice Bennett, Faye Depew, Velma Mohilewsky, Gwendolyn Jacobs and Esther Hakes.

Belva worked at Stackpole Carbon in St. Marys and Emporium for many years and had also worked at the S.B. Elliot State Park Nursery, over fifty years ago.  She was a member of the Weedville Wesleyan Church where she had been an active member and organized and supplied the original Nursery of the Church. She was also a member of the Bennetts Valley Senior Center and served as a caregiver for many Bennetts Valley Residents. She had lived all her life in Bennetts Valley except for the past five years she lived with her niece, Barbara (Craig) Sheldon in Oswego, NY.

Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield, PA.

Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Weedville Wesleyan Church in Weedville, PA.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the Weedville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Bryon Kleppinger.

Interment will take place in the Morningside Cemetery of DuBois, PA.
