Annabelle Rio, age 94, of Penfield, died, November 21, 2022, peacefully, at DuBois Nursing Home. A daughter of the late Victor and Rose Ann (Barkey) Kantz, she was born on November 15, 1928 in Arcadia, PA. On May 12, 1949 she married Cosimo “Chuck” Rio, who preceded her in death on September 21, 1999.
Annabelle is survived by: a son, Chuck (Cindy) Rio of Penfield; grandchildren, Tonia Catalone, Shawn (Stacy) Agosti, Nick and Patty Barnett; great-grandchildren, Matt and Shayla Agosti, Aubrean Miller, Meghan Barnett, and Brayden and Taylor Andrade; a brother, Wilson (Alice) Kantz of Commodore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, Annabelle was predeceased by: a daughter, Roseann and her husband Gary Schneider; three brothers, Blake, Jack and Calvin Kantz; and two sisters, Mary Kantz and Geraldine Lockard.
Annabelle was raised in Hillsdale and Sandy Township, but lived most of her life in Penfield. She had been a member of the DuBois Tri-County Church of God since its construction in Sandy Township. She enjoyed old Country Music, dancing, riding with her son on his motorcycle, cleaning and reading her Bible. Through her many years of attendance with local charities and dancing at holiday events, she was affectionately known in the Penfield area as “Gram”.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield, PA.
Funeral Services will be held, 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the Funeral Home.
Interment will take place with her husband in the Lakelawn Memorial Park of Reynoldsville.
