Obituary of Loretta D. Robinson Gallagher

Loretta D. Robinson Gallagher, 100 years of age, from Winslow Hill Road, Benezette, PA, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA, where she was a resident.  She was born on June 28, 1917, in Benezette, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl Grace (Bloom) Robinson.

Loretta is survived by her daughter Diane (Joseph) Caliari of Weedville, five grandchildren: Albert Brunelli of DuBois, Lana (Rawland) Cogan of Weedville, Tanya (Benjamin) Witherson of Weedville, Thomas Brown of DuBois and Jeffrey Caliari of Baltimore, MD, and two great-grandsons Cody and Jess Cogan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clair Gallagher in 2003, a daughter Jean Brown and son-in-law Donald Brown, four sisters: Evelyn Krisher, Jane Davis, Ilene Hennessey and Catherine Baker, three brothers: John, Leo and James. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Loretta was a graduate of Benezette High School, Class of 1934. For many years she was a cook at the Benezette School, and the concessionaire of Parker Dam State Park for 32 years. She enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Winslow Hill, cooking for her family and also observing the wildlife, especially the elk.

In her younger years, she was a Red Cross volunteer at the Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, a member of the Benezette United Methodist Church, the Methodist Ladies Aid Society and the Bennetts Valley Senior Center.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., at the Benezette United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Officiating will be Pastor Missy Smith. Burial will take place at Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, PA.

Memorials, if desired, may be presented to the Bennetts Valley Senior Center, 149 Plum Street, P.O. Box 77, Weedville, PA 15868.
