Larry R. Snyder, Sr.

Larry R. Snyder, Sr., 67, of Ridgway, PA, died, January 10, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, after a short illness.  He was born in Indiana, PA, on October 6, 1950, a son of the late Raymond and Alberta (Fleming) Snyder.  On July 5, 1971, he married Delores A. (Swackhammer), who survives in Ridgway.

Also surviving are his children, Larry (LeAnne) Snyder, Jr. of Camp Hill, Adam Snyder of Ridgway, Dawn (Cliff) Holland of Texas, LouAnn Smith of Ridgway, Robin (Scott) Hollobaugh of Ridgway, and Sally (DJ Nicholson) Snyder of Jonestown; sixteen Grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elizabeth Wray of Sykesville, Sandra Snyder of Rossiter and Theresa Moore of New Mexico.

Besides his parents, Larry was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Dale Snyder.

After twenty eight years of service to the Johnsonburg Paper Mill, he retired in 2012 as a Laboratory Technician.  Larry had also retired from the PA National Guard after serving in the Marine Corps from 1968 to 1978, including time in Vietnam from 1970-’71 with Delta Company, 1^st Battallion, 5^th Marines.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, time with his children and especially his grandchildren.  He has lived with his family in the Johnsonburg/Ridgway area since 1985.

There will be no visitation.  The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. when a Memorial Service will commence at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, PA.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
