George Chiodo, 81, of Ash Street, Force, PA, died, January 11, 2018 at UPMC Altoona, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on April 7, 1936 in Scattertown, PA, a son of the late Thomas and Christine (Caimi) Chiodo. On July 31, 1965 he married Theresa “Terri” (Sadowski), who survives in Force.
Along with his wife, George is survived by his children, Natalie (Scott) Krise of DuBois and Rodney (Carolyn) Chiodo of Grove City; five grandchildren, Brittany, Emily and Jeremy Krise, and Belle and Gracie Chiodo; a brother, Lawrence (Rosanna) Chiodo of Weedville; and a sister, Aileen (Robert) Luca of Ellwood City.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Chiodo.
Living all his life in Bennetts Valley, George enjoyed hunting, and watching football and baseball. After serving in the US Army from 1954-’57, he worked with National Molding from 1957-’65, Ridgway Color and Chemical from 1965-’73 and PA Department of Transportation from 1973-’96, retiring as a Maintenance Operator. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the DuBois Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Weedville American Legion and the Bennetts Valley Rod&Gun Club.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, PA, with Father Mark Mastrian as celebrant.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Weedville American Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
Burial will take place in the Church Cemetery.
