Matilda Elizabeth “Tillie” Liptak, age 100, of Weedville, PA, died March 16, 2024 at the DuBois Nursing Home. A daughter of the late Ralph and Hulda (Brumberg) Merley, she was born on June 8, 1923 in Fuller, PA. On December 1, 1945 she married Fred F. Liptak, who predeceased her on March 12, 1975.
Along with her parents and her husband, Tillie was preceded in death by: a son, Duane and his wife Roseann Liptak; a sister, Aileen Surfield; and four brothers, Leo, Ralph, Ronald and Edward Merley.
Tillie is survived by: her son, David (Charlene) Liptak of Weedville; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Tillie lived most of her life in Bennetts Valley. She attended Bennetts Valley Schools and competed a food service course from the University of North Dakota. She worked at Sylvania, Stackpole and retired from Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital as Food Services Director and Supervisor of the Dietary Department after seventeen years of service.
Public visitation will be held, Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield, PA.
Funeral Services will be held, 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend Missy Smith.
Interment will take place, next to her husband, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery of Force, PA.
