Lawrence Chiodo Obituary

Lawrence Carl Chiodo, age 88, of Bennetts Valley Highway, Weedville, PA, died Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Penn Highlands-DuBois after a lengthy illness.  A son of the late Thomas and Christine (Ciami) Chiodo, he was born on July 14, 1932 in Scattertown, PA.

Lawrence is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Rosanna (Scanish) Chiodo; three sons, David (Kim) Chiodo of St. Marys, Michael Chiodo of Weedville and Jeffrey (Jill) Chiodo of Weedville; two grandchildren, Keeley and Jake Chiodo of Weedville; and a sister, Aileen (Robert) Luca of Ellwood City, PA.

Besides his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by: two brothers, Theodore and George Chiodo.

Lawrence graduated Jay Township High School in 1950, graduated from Clarion State University with a BS Degree in Education and received his Master’s Degree in Guidance from Penn State University.  He taught at Penfield High School, Bennetts Valley High School and served as Guidance Counsellor at St. Marys Area Middle School until his retirement in 1992.

He had a great love of music and enjoyed playing in his dance band, “The Melodaires”.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren who he loved very much.  He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Bennetts Valley Rod & Gun Club, Bennetts Branch Watershed Association, and member of the Kitchen Crew at Camp Mt. Run on Youth Field Day.  He lived all his life in Bennetts Valley and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

There will be no public visitation due to COVID-19 concerns.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, PA with Father Mark Mastrian as celebrant.

Interment will take place in the Church Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to the Bennetts Valley Rod & Gun Club (PO BOX 4, Penfield, PA 15849) or a favorite charity and will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.
