Joseph J. Calabria, Sr.

Joseph J. (Guiseppe) Calabria, Sr., of Kersey, PA, died unexpectedly on April 22, 2023, at Penn Highlands-DuBois.  A son of the late Luigi and Eugenia (Disossi) Calabria, he was born on October 22, 1933 in Gizzeria, Italy.  Joe came to USA as a young child and lived most of his life in Pittsburgh until relocating to Benezette and Kersey.

Joe is survived by: his wife of thirty five years, Robin (Woodring) Calabria of Kersey; six children, Gregory (Christina) Calabria, Gina (Leonard) Herrington, Joseph (Karen) Calabria, Jr., Amy (Derrick Crispin) Roberts, Carey Allison and Christine (Tim) Ruffner; his grandchildren, Michael J. Calabria, Jaclyn (Robert) Lauer, Lisa C. Calabria, Brandon Herrington, Sean Herrington, Joseph “Joey” Calabria, Daniel Montambo, Melodie Montambo, Anthony Ruffner, Rocco Ruffner, Jordan Resch and Jaxson Resch; his great-grandchildren, James Robert Lauer and Madison Grace Lauer; a brother, Bruno (Chi Chi) Calabria; and a sister, Carmelina Zeff.

Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by: his loving wife and mother of his children (Gregory, Gina and Joseph, Jr.) Magdalene (Strednak) Calabria; and a sister, Sylvia (Anthony) Gigliotti.

There will be no public visitation.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Weedville Wesleyan Church of Weedville, PA.

Funeral Services will be held, 12:00 noon, Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Weedville Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Bryon Kleppinger.

The family suggests memorials to the Elk County Humane Society, 1029 Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Weedville Wesleyan Church, 18945 Bennetts Valley Hwy, Weedville, PA  15868; and will be accepting online condolences at the Ralph M.
