Joan Simchick

Joan Simchick, age 91, of Johnsonburg and recently of Kane, PA, died late Monday, June 21, 2021 at UPMC Kane, after a lengthy illness.  A daughter of the late Stanley and Waltrude (Kazmierski) Simchick, she was born on June 1, 1930 in Johnsonburg.

Joan is survived by: three brothers, Richard Simchick of Covington, GA, Stanley Simchick of Richlands, NC and John Simchick of Brockway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by: ten sisters, Eileen Chilcott, Susan Odom, Betty Jane Lindbeck, Louise “Patty” Goodreau, Beatrice Cherry, Frances Nashadka, Constance Kennedy, Rose Marie Terry, and infants, Jean and Regina Simchick.

Living all her life in Johnsonburg, Joan graduated from Johnsonburg Schools, retired from Stackpole Carbon and also worked as a Bartender with the Piedmonte Club for twenty years.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Piedmonte Club, Central Hose Company and the Johnsonburg Senior Center.

There will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 28, 2021at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Johnsonburg, PA with Father David Wilson, celebrant.

The family suggests memorials to the Johnsonburg Library or the American Cancer Society and will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.

The Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg has been entrusted with final arrangements.
