Merle L. Johnston, 76, of State Park Road, Penfield, PA, died suddenly, Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Penn Highlands – DuBois. A son of the late Andrew M. and Betty F. (Lowstetter) Johnston, he was born in DuBois on September 20, 1941.
Merle is survived by his daughter, Nicki (Tim) Morgan of Penfield; two grandchildren, Samantha (Brandon) Connor and Michaela Morgan; and his loving dog, Maggie.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Michael Johnston and an infant brother, Dennis Johnston.
Merle was the owner/operator of Andrew Johnston Nursery of Penfield for many years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Bennetts Valley Rod&Gun Club, the Penfield Firemen’s Club, and the Hilltop Howlers snowmobile club. He enjoyed racing on the local dirt tracks for many years, snowmobiling and riding ATV’s. He lived most of his life in Penfield.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, PA.
He will be laid to rest beside his son in the Crown Crest Memorial Park of Clearfield.
