Matthew Paul Smith

Matthew Paul Smith, 43, of High Street, Johnsonburg, died, Tuesday, January 2, 2018 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  He was born in Gothenburg, NE, on March 20, 1974, a son of Samuel Casper and Lynda Marleen (Wear) Smith, Sr. of Brandy Camp, PA.  On October 25, 2017, he married Stacy Lynn (Stone) who survives in Johnsonburg.

Along with his parents and his wife, Matt is also survived by a his baby, due in June; a step-daughter, Serenity Amaya Goins; two brothers, Grant Smith of Ridgway and Samuel Smith Jr. of Lexington, NE; three sisters, Elizabeth Scott of Pittsburgh, KS, Margaret “Peggy” Hartman of Pittsburgh, KS and Lynda “JoJo” Petr of Hastings, NE.

Matt was predeceased by his grandparents; a brother, George Smith; and a nephew, Danny Eugene Hartman, Jr.

Living in Nebraska most of his life, Matt has lived in Ridgway and Johnsonburg for the past two years.  He worked the past year with Alpha Precision Grinding and enjoyed cooking and riding his motorcycle.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with a funeral service commencing at 6:00 p.m. at the Ubel Funeral Home, Johnsonburg, PA with Reverend Joel Hodgdon.
