Mary Winkler Obituary

Mary L. Winkler, 98, of DuBois and formerly of Penfield, died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.  The last surviving child of the late Salvatore “Sam” and Anna (Rizzo) Giardino, she was born in Italy on May 8, 1920. 

Mary is survived by her: daughter, Karen (Myron) Crumrine of DuBois; a daughter-in-law, Judith Winkler of Weedville; three grandchildren, Shannon, Heather and Amber Winkler; one great-grandchild, Cole Godding; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her: husband, Ralph Winkler; a son, Francis Winkler; a brother, James Giardino; and a sister, Rose Guido.

Mary retired from Jeffers Electronics where she had working in their laboratory for many years.  She had worked at Sylvania of Emporium prior to her marriage and had also worked a short time at Brockway Glass.  A member of Holy Altar Society and the St. Joseph Catholic Church, she had also been a member of St. Stanislaus of Tyler in her youth.  She was also a member of the Bennetts Valley Senior Center and a volunteer for Clara Hall of the DuBois Hospital for many years.

Being born and raised in Tyler, she lived in Penfield from 1960 to 2012 and in DuBois the past six years.

There will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force, PA with Father Mark Mastrian, celebrant.

Burial will take place in the Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the St. Joseph Church, Bennetts Valley Senior Center or Village View (c/o the DuBois Nursing Home) and will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.
