Charles J. “Charlie” Cian, 79, of Caledonia Pike Road, Caledonia, PA, died, Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Elk Haven Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.
Charlie was born on December 31, 1937, in St. Marys, a son of the late Bruno and Elsie (Tyler) Cian.
He is survived by his wife Wanda L. (Fox) Cian of Caledonia whom he married in 1961; a daughter, Rebecca Short of Caledonia; two grandchildren, Colton and Taylor Short; three brothers, Louis Cian of Penfield, Delbert “Bud” (Ruth) McCullough of Brockway and Samuel (Lynn) McCullough; and a sister, Marlene (Donald) Kunes of Caledonia.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert “Buster” Cian and Fred McCullough.
Charlie worked at Piper Aircraft until 1980 and then with DCNR until his retirement on December 31, 1999.
A lifelong resident of Caledonia, he was a member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church, PA Trappers Assoc. and the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, hunting for Ginseng and especially enjoyed “The Camp” at Water Plug Hollow.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2 – 4 p.m. to 7 – 9 p.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, PA. There will also be visitation at the Caledonia United Methodist Church, Caledonia, PA on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 10 – 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation, 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the Caledonia United Methodist Church with Pastor Missy Smith.
Burial will take place in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Weedville, PA.
